Pleated Space
My creative inspiration stems from the form and rhythm of pleated skirts. I integrated Miao ethnic clothing with Western modern design language, using collage techniques to reconstruct two different extension forms and directions of pleats.
Structurally, I broke symmetry to create a "eaves-like" silhouette with one side high and the other low, extending downward to form new facade layers. Semi-transparent tracing paper was chosen as the material, giving the overall model a light and ethereal quality under light, conveying a romantic and dynamic visual narrative. The lightweight vertical surfaces sway with the wind, activating the space and connecting a community of people.
Materials: Wooden boards, tracing paper, wooden sticks, acrylic rods
